HOW TO PLAN FOR A MORE HAPPIER YOU IN 2018

January 01, 2018

The new year is finally here and with it comes the proverbial clean slate that ultimately affords us the opportunity to do it all again.
This is that time of the year when we embrace new beginnings, set ourselves some new goals and aim to try it all again, but harder or better this time.

So We tend to set unrealistic goals veiled as new years resolutions, which inevitably can put enormous pressure to do it all right, even at the expense of our happiness.

But how about instead of planning for success, you instead take the resolve to be a more happier you instead?!

And here's why: a more happier you is the you that will want to kick ass in every single thing you  do because happiness allows us the ability to be bolder, more courageous and definitely more passionate about whatever it is we do in life!

And here's a few simple things to remember that will help you be a more happier you in 2018...

1. MAKE ROOM FOR ALLOWANCES

By that i mean, try not to be so hard on yourself if/or when things don't go your way and instead learn to recignise minor set backs as important learning curves necessary for your future development and ultimate success!
Doing this will then help alleviate the pressure to be perfect, to succeed, or even pressure to achieving each and every single one of your set goals!

2. CELEBRATE THE TINY WINS

Yes; instead of only celebrating those major life wins, which  can sometimes be few and far  between; learn to also celebrate life's mundane tiny wins too.
This could be putting on make-up as opposed to roughing it in pj's all day, or waking up an hour early to clear out your inbox, or even carving out time to meet a friend for coffee. Doing so is incredibly good for your self-esteem as this will help reprogramme your brain in a way that'll make you see yourself as a winner and in control of your life, which in turn, will help you be a more happier you in 2018.

3. LEARN TO ACCEPT THAT FAILURE IS INEVITABLE

Here's the thing: no one likes to fail. No one! That's why failure can be seen as this taboo event because when we do fail, we tend to take it too hard and too personally forgetting the fact that the whole point of failure is to teach us to learn from our mistakes and to try to do better next time. And here's another thing about failure; it teaches us perseverance, gives us strength,  and forces us to be gritty. It toughens us up for life's future challenges because lord knows there's always a few challenges on the horizon - it's part of life.

So when you do fail next time, just accept it, no matter how painful it may be, and know that there's an invaluable lesson within that failure!

4. DO  NOT SEE YOURSELF AS THE GIRL (OR GUY) WHO'S FAILED AT THIS OR THAT, BUT RATHER IDENTIFY YOURSELF AS THE GIRL WITH UNTAPPED POTENTIAL

I say that because sometimes we (myself included) as humans tend to define ourselves by our mistakes or failures rather than our triumphs. For example, you could be someone who never finished school, so therefore you see and call yourself the drop-out! Don't do that because you make it harder for yourself to achieve that thing that you really want to be the most. So learn to identify yourself positively - it will do you a world of good, I promise!

5. LET GO OF PAST MISTAKES

Forget the could haves, would haves and should haves and instead live in the here and now because guess what: everything under the sun happens for a reason. All those mistakes you did were in fact part of your journey and yours alone, and to be honest, they could be the making of you - you just don't know it yet!
So you never applied for that job - forget about it! There'll be other jobs in the future!
So you never told him you liked him - so what?! If you're meant to be together you'll find a way!
The point is: don't worry about all those things you think you did wrong because tomorrow is yet another day, and 2018 is yet another year!

So here's to you being a much happier you and having a  more fulfilled 2018!
