ATTENTION COLLEGE STUDENTS & GRADUATES: HERE'S HOW TO GET OVER YOUR FEAR OF FAILURE BY REMEMBERING THESE 5 EMPOWERING TRUTHS

6/07/2017

The average millennial student has about a thousand self-crippling thoughts from the moment they set foot on campus and start their college life up until they sit their exams and graduate!

They have thoughts like: "Will I make friends?" "will my classmates like me?" "am i pretty enough?" "Why aren't i part of the popular group?", down to thoughts like: "will i pass this test?" , "can i afford next semester's fees"? "How can i juggle 2 part-time jobs and still be able to attend class?  And worse, they worry if they'll  ever be successful?"

I say this because I know what it's like. I've been there!

And no doubt nine out of ten times this pressure to be successful  is usually self imposed, but it can  also easily be exacerbated by thinking the most negative thoughts ever by virtue of simply seeing someone else succeed in the very thing you're trying to accomplish, which then makes your fear of being a failure that much more.

So, how can you get over this pattern of worry and trust that in the end, it will all be okay?!

Perhaps you can start by remembering these 5 empowering truths , because not doing so is only going to do one thing: and that's hinder your efforts of ever succeeding in life.

1st EMPOWERING TRUTH

IT'S OKAY NOT BEING THE BEST STUDENT IN CLASS
Take it from someone who was never the best student in class: it's okay! Because not being the best will force you to ask yourself: "If I'm not good at this, what am i good that?!" and the answer to that question will be the making of your true career path

2nd EMPOWERING TRUTH

FAILURE IS A GOOD THING. IN FACT, YOU SHOULD WELCOME IT WITH OPEN ARMS.
Failing at anything is so taboo for millennials these days that it actually prevents us from ever trying to do anything. And that shouldn't be the case because, in fact, you should be open to failure because it's one of the best indicators that you're closer to the success you desire
because the more you fail, the more you learn, and my friend, knowledge is power!

3rd EMPOWERING TRUTH
NOT EVERYONE IN YOUR CLASS WILL GET A JOB AFTER GRADUATING COLLEGE
Not getting that job will make you question a lot about yourself and your future, which, will then somehow make you think you've hit some sort of rock bottom (Yeah, silly, i know!) but that's okay, in fact, that's great because feeling that way will then force you to look at your life and make you think of what it is you really wanna do with your life, and that'll be exactly the kind of motivation you'll need to figuring out what you want post college

4th EMPOWERING TRUTH

WORKING TABLES AT STARBUCKS WILL BE THE CAREER BOOSTER YOU NEED
Yes you don't have the job you want, and instead you're working at Starbucks, but that's actually really good for your CV/Resume because being in any form of employment (as opposed to being unemployed) post college will be great for your CV/Rėsumé because that job in Starbucks is going to be providing you with some much needed transferable skills for the job you really want. So hang in there.

5th EMPOWERING TRUTH

YOUR FIRST REAL JOB AFTER COLLEGE MAY NOT BE YOUR DREAM JOB, BUT THAT'S OK.
There's obviously a hierarchy in any career path you choose, so to that end, you're going to have to pay your dues as it were, before you finally find yourself doing the work you love. So being the designated office coffee-maker is ok, so long as you keep your eye on the price!

So there you have it! The 5 most empowering truths for you to remember when your fear of failure is looming.
