Before we begin, I'd like to point out that this post will be relevant to all you ladies (and gents) who wouldn't mind getting some extra cash by applying for temp jobs either in retail, hospitality sectors like pubs and restaurants. If that's you, carry on reading because as someone who once managed to land AND maintain 3 temp' jobs all at once, and I've got some great tips to share with you!
Alright, we all know this by now: Christmas is coming! And usually that means tons of parties to go to, tons of gifts to buy, and tons of late nights - which is fantastic, but as you well know, all that fun doesn't come cheap!
So, if you're on the hunt for a part-time/temp job and earn some extra cash this Xmas season because lord knows that attending those fun parties or stocking up on gifts for your loved ones sure ain't cheap; you better listen up 'cause the good news is: you've come to the right place!
STEP 1:
SORT OUT YOUR CV/RESUME
Get your CV/Resume in order and make sure all the info on it is relevant to your job search endeavors.
The good thing about applying for a job in retail, pubs or restaurants is that all that's important in your cv is this; 1) relevant previous skills and work experience; 2) legit references; and 3) availability! In that order!
STEP 2:
ADD A BIT OF PERSONALITY TO YOUR JOB SEARCH EFFORT
By that I mean: send in a hard copy of your CV/Resume in person rather than an electronic soft copy - this will instantly increase your chances of actually being considered for the job rather than your CV/Resume ending up in never-never-land!

STEP 3:
ALWAYS ASK TO SPEAK TO THE HIRING MANAGER IN PERSON
Make it a point to ask for the Hiring Manager in person instead of handing over your CV/Resume to a random staff member. This way, you now have an opportunity to wow the Hiring Manager by speaking to him/her in person - which is a surefire way to convince him/her that you're super cool and well-able for the job!

STEP 4:
BE PREPARED FOR TO ANSWER SOME QUESTIONS REGARDING YOUR EXPERIENCE
By that I mean: expect the Hiring Manager to conduct a mini interview with you on the spot. So be prepared to answer questions like: "do you have experience?" "where did you work before?", etc. etc.
Oh, if you're foreign, make sure you clearly articulate to him or her that you have a working visa and are eligible to work in the country because that's what he/she will be wondering too. So do mention that your work-visa situation is in order 'cause you wanna make sure you tick all the boxes and give him/her no choice but to hire you.

STEP 5:
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, LOOK PRESENTABLE!

I would recommend smart casual as your go-to look for this occasion.
