HOW TO KEEP POSITIVE AFTER NOT GETTING THE JOB YOU WANTED

May 24, 2016

Imagine this scenario: you stumble across a job which you totally  believe was meant for you. So naturally you apply for it. You then get the call to attend the interview for the position. "Yay!" You quietly think to yourself.

So you start prepping for  the interview, going  over the most asked interview questions including the most common one "so why do you want to work for us" question.

You attend the interview  and end up  acing it! And so  you return home all happy as Larry because by now you're thinking: "I've got the job!"

But days  go by...  you haven't heard back from the company.

You start to panic and wonder if you should do the follow up email thing?!

So you do.
And to be fair, the company promptly emails you back. But it's not the news you wanted to hear. They've instead sent you the classic  soul - destroying  email ever saying : "hey we thought you were brilliant and everything, but... unfortunately we went with a more suitable  candidate!

Ouch!

I mean...talk about a knife through the heart;  right?!

Getting this kind of email can be pretty hard to handle. It's painful. Demoralizing. And it down right sucks!

Which would explain why you'd want to wallow and throw a pity-party for one. But here's the thing: don't!

Instead choose to be  strong. Keep your chin up. And say: "on to the next (job application)"!  because trust me, it's the only way you're ever  gonna get through the job search and finally land your dream job. Which is why it's super important that you reject thinking any of these  5 most awful  thoughts after you've been rejected by a job application.
And Here's a list of the top 5 thoughts to reject after being rejected by a job application.

FIRST THOUGHT TO REJECT:
"I'm never gonna get a job ever!"
That's a lie. You will get a job. Just  not this one.

 SECOND THOUGHT TO REJECT:
"I'm obviously not that good enough."
Yes you are. Just because you didn't get this job doesn't mean you're bad. It just means you weren't a good fit for the role or the company. And as hard as it may be to believe at this point;  this is a good thing 'cause you want a job that's totally gonna be for you and a company that you're totally gonna gel with.

THIRD THOUGHT TO REJECT:
"It's because I'm not smart enough."
Sometimes it's not about being smart enough. It's simply about being able to do job at convincing the hiring manager of your skills and expertise as an individual. That means; crafting a great resume and being able to sell yourself at an interview.
FOURTH THOUGHT TO REJECT:
"It's because I  was never the smartest pupil in college."
That's not true. Sometimes the most successful individuals in life were the ones that weren't that smart in college.

FIFTH THOUGHT TO REJECT:
"There must be something wrong with me."
Ok, So not true!
Stop believing that there's something wrong with you and start recognizing and appreciative of your wonderful qualities. The more you do this, the more you'll be able to convince others of your amazing qualities and end up getting a job finally!
